About This

if you are not me, that’s fine; please be my guest.
if you are, however, then it has already started !

Ok, I might as well write sth that makes sense; for a change.

I started this a couple of years back as a notebook really, writing down – as it were – titles of songs I always meant to look for. This new technology offered to keep notes/records of anything I considered interesting without losing eventually half of it every time I moved from one place of Europe to the next – I’ve done that a lot!

So, it’s music, books, quotes and some indecipherable scriblings – not to mention comedy – I borrowed from other people that I felt explained well my perception of the world around me. Then again maybe it’s these very bits of wisdom that allowed me to have that perspective…

Which brings us to the 10:00 am dilemma: Do I have a perspective or am I just moving about on instinct? Have I learned anything? Do I have a character? Is that New Zealand on the map or am I just drooling?

As you can see for yourself I can get very philosophical round about mid-morning which is really what happens when you start drinking that early. It’s weird to realize though, that as I grow older I get more skeptical and at 48 I believe I’ve lost over half of the answers I was so sure about when I was, say, 24..

Θυμάρι (Thymari) means thyme in greek and there’s a lot of it where I grew up, having to walk a mile or so across fields full of it to go to school. As the philosopher Robertson has put it: that was when time stood still.. No original stuff in my blogg, I’m afraid, so I thought I might as well write sth of mine on this page. Having said that let me just quote this french guy, Celine, when he wrote:

Notre vie est un voyage

Dans l’hiver et dans la Nuit,

Nous cherchons notre passage

Dans le Ciel où rien ne luit.

A lot of crap, you may think; russian army beat the hell out of Napoleon and the swiss guard got poetical.. But I’ll bet chicks’ll love it !

So, hang in there; there’s no other boat around. You, or your kids, may have the answer to where we have set sail for (and where did we set sail from in the first place..).

This is as good as it gets                                                (June ’09)

  1. Hey,
Great site … video of Dobie Gray singing ‘Drift Away’, always one of my favorite songs!

FYI — your site shows a link to mine, the Jim Pepper Lives site, but there’s a typo in the url link, It’s missing the colon after ‘http’, so it goes nowhere. Small fix, big misdirection!

Otherwise, keep up the good work,
    Bill
